Truck repair and just driving

Captains Log May 28 – We  have had better  days!  We  left about  9:15  headed  back  to  the Chevy dealer to put the correct side view mirror on the truck.  Bill decided while we were there to have the oil changed as well.  So we didn’t actually get on the road until 11:23.  Due  to  the loss of over 2 hours of  travel time, Bill  revamped our  overnight  location and  we will  also be later getting in tomorrow  night’s stop  as well.   Both nights  are Walmart  nights so  it’s no  big deal and I don’t plan to do any cooking as we have enough leftovers to get thru.

The roads were not as heavy with traffic as I expected due to the holiday weekend and most of the time they were 2 lanes with passing lanes sporadically placed.  The issue was the bumpy roads that need a lot of repairing.  Also, on these small roads there are not regular rest areas like an interstate and some if we can’t see an exit that circles thru we can’t take a chance of getting in a pickle.

Eventually I REALLY had to go to the bathroom and just needed a place to pull over, but there was nothing along the road.  Finally the road was flat with a wide berm and I pulled over and put my flashers on.  While I was doing my thing, Bill quickly grabbed some hand foods out of the fridge that we gobbled up and got back on the road.  Not even a 15 minute lunch break!!

We finally arrived in Park Rapids, MN at 4:14 and got a great spot along the front of the lot.  We did our little bit of food supply restocking and Bill washed the front of the RV.  There were a lot of RV’s coming in and it took us a bit to realize they weren’t staying but stocking up for their weekend of camping.  A young guy came over and chatted Bill up while he was washing the front.  He’s a carpenter and they are full time.  Not sure if she works or just him.  He was very nice!

By about 6:30 the RV’s stopped appearing and now at 9:30 the lot is pretty bare.  They close here at 11 and we are kind of in the middle of no where.

We finished off the chicken pasta salad and agreed it was a keeper.  I completed some online paperwork on the damage to the truck that Bill finally called in.  Hope I’ve provided what they need.  It won’t be getting finished until October.
