Arrived at Lake Superior!

Captains Log May 23 – The goal this morning was to be on the road by 9 and we made it!  It

was pretty nippy out and it appeared that it was going to be colder the further west we went.  We had a 2 night reservation in Munising and tickets for the Picture Rocks boat tour at 1. 

The trip was uneventful and not much traffic at all.  It was mostly 2 lane road but there was not much traffic and it had the occasional passing lane so we didn’t block a speeder for getting around us.  The trickiest part was once we arrived in Munising and there was major road work in the city and VERY narrow lanes to get through.  Phew!

We have a nice pull thru spot with full hook up facing Lake Superior.  Nice!  What is not so nice as it was 43 out when we arrived and that right now it’s worked up to a whopping 45!  Tomorrow is supposed to be 63.  I sure hope so as after we arrived we received a call that our tour was cancelled due to high waves and we booked for 1:00 tomorrow.  At least it will be warmer.  Bill said if this one gets cancelled we will not come back again to try.  That’s what happened before.

Once we knew the trip was cancelled, Bill drove back a few miles to Muldoons Pasties and got us each one meat pastie and he got a veggie one and a raspberry one.  We didn’t get to have them in St. Ignace as they didn’t deliver and we didn’t unhook the truck.  Pasties are like a pot pie but not runny inside and they are folded over in the dough so it’s like a fried pie but it’s baked.  We ate half for lunch and the other half for dinner.  I think I could make them!!

It was too cold to walk about or even go out unless we had to.   So I did 2 loads of laundry and we both read.  Under the trees again so can’t use the satellite either.  This is a city
campground so there is no cable.

The cold is really taking a toll on my lower back and hips with my arthritis.  Hard to get up and down so wonder if I will get any sleep tonight.
