Last try at Apostle Islands National Park - maybe next year

Captains Log May 27 – The plan this morning, since  Bill never heard back from the Chevy guy, was he would drop me off at the docks to check if the  water was any better today, then he’d go to get the truck stuff done.  As we were getting our jackets on to leave I saw I had a missed call and message from the boat company.  The  message was  the trip  for today  was cancelled, so that settled that!  They refunded my ticket and Bill headed on his way.

When I’m bored I like to cook.  The question was what?  I microwave thawed some beef and put a beef stew in the crock pot for a hearty meal tonight.   I decided to make biscuits to go with the stew and then I made a batch of Brownie Brittle.  I put half of it in the freezer so we pace ourselves.

Bill took much longer today than he expected at the Chevy dealer and then they either ordered the wrong part or were sent the wrong part for the mirror replacement.  When we leave tomorrow we will drive separately and I’ll park in the big lot while he has them replace the mirror.

We have been talking with someone from Jackson County Parks in Oregon about volunteering for 6 weeks and she sent paperwork today that we completed and returned for them to do a background check.  We will be manning a campground and it sounds like we will have a variety of jobs to do.  There will be grass to mow, wood to sell, sites to clean and bathhouses to clean.  We’d work 20 hours a week with 2 days off.  We should hear something in a few days.

We enjoyed our stew for dinner and for dessert we had some chocolate ice cream with  some brownie brittle on the side!  Bill did up the dishes while I was on the computer and he’s filling our water tank as we will be at Wal-marts for the next 2 nights.

We are definitely hoping for a bit warmer weather down the road!
