Picture Rock Boat Trip

Captains Log May 24 – It was a long day!  It  was a  lovely but  brisk morning!   Lake  Superior

was calm and we were able to go on our Picture Rocks boat trip. We stopped at the grocery to pick up something to  have  for lunch  while we  waited for  the boat.   We had  a box of  naked wings and some potato salad.  I had brought apples and a mini  candy bar  for each of  us and water so we were good to go.

When we arrived at the docks we saw the tiny trailer and truck parked along the street so we figured they were on the same tour as we were.  When we got back to the truck afterwards the little camper was gone so they must have hurried off the boat since they checked out of the campground they are heading elsewhere.

In the beginning Bill went to the bottom where it was enclosed and I went up top.  If I could have gotten the seat the very outside I would have stayed but they don’t want you standing up and I couldn’t get photos I wanted.  Bill gave me the window seat and we had a bench to ourselves.  It was nice inside but super brisk

when you opened the window.  I took a lot of pictures and the skies were blue and the water was calm.

The boat took us as far out as Spray Falls and it was not a huge waterfall but out in the open along the wall of the lake.  The park is also on land and we did all of that 2 years ago when we were here and got fogged out on the boat trip.  We

know what it was like to look down on the lake so today was the reverse experience.

On the way back in after 2 hours of sights along the lake walls we stopped to view and photo the lighthouse.  It is over 100 years old and is on a tiny island and the owners of the island are responsible for the upkeep of it.  They’re doing a great job!

Back on land and it was turning cooler!  On

The lighthouse

the way back to the RV we stopped at Muldoons so I could get 2 frozen pasties for down the road a ways and 2 fresh ones for dinner tomorrow once we reach Bayfield, WI.

We had a quiet evening and relaxed for tomorrow.
