Left Minnesota behind and headed into North Dakota

Captains Log May 29 – Another fun day on the road!  We crossed over in to North Dakota and it was just as cold at Minnesota! It was great to get back on an interstate highway though!

Roger Maris 2 team jerseys

Our first stop was Fargo.  Here was visited the Roger Maris Museum.  He went to school in Fargo and was a national hero to the town.  He was a major athlete in high school. He played baseball, football and track.  The museum is in one long entrance of a big mall there.  Everything is behind glass and there is a small room with an movie about his life as well.

Bill has one of his Rookie cards!  I think Bill liked him because he started out with the Indians.   The sad part of his life is he died  in his 50’s from a form of cancer leaving behind his

A few awards
wife and 5 children.

There were 2 photos of major awards he received that had been stolen one night from the museum.  They have never surfaced.  That is very sad!  We both enjoyed the small museum as it was great to see the awards of a Hall of Famer!

From Fargo we headed to Jamestown, ND to the National Buffalo Museum.  There is actually a little village depicting an old western town beside the museum.  The movie in the museum was excellent and told

Bill and "big Buff"

about the near extinction of the bison and how it was brought back in numbers.  The exhibits were nice and there was a Hall of Fame wall of people who aided in the non-extinction and re-growth of their population.  The little village has the World’s Largest Buffalo at the very end so of course Bill and I each had a photo with the Big Guy!  The various buildings were set up to resemble what they would look like back in the day.  I liked the saloon!  Bill enjoyed the building replicating Louis L’amour’s cabin where he wrote his famous books.  They allowed each visitor to have one of his books.  That really excited Bill!

It was starting to drizzle at the end so we hurried back to the RV and Bill wanted to stop at a

Albino baby

couple of places to see about getting a new gas cap for one of the RV tanks.  He didn’t have any luck so will try NAPA next I think.

Our Walmart for the night was in Jamestown just over the interstate.  Once we got parked it was starting to drizzle a bit.  We shared a pastie and steamed broccoli for dinner and Bill started his Louis L’amour book!
