Shipshewana Flea Market

Captains Log May 19 - It’s really nice to be in one spot for a few days!  We had a peaceful

Flea market

evening and a quiet morning until the 3 toddlers next door started running back and forth in their trailer!  They must have big feet from the sound of them!

Once we had our breakfast and dressed we heading into Shipshewana for the HUGE Flea market.  We were parked almost to the road and that means there were hundreds of vehicles before us.  No big deal as it was a lovely day out and we did our share of walking.  I wore my ankle brace as this is one the times I’m sure my Dr was referring to!

We bought a couple of Christmas gifts that we are excited about and I broke down and got a new cover for my phone.  It was looking super shabby with paint all over it!  We had an assortment of things but the most important was the Fried Pies!  They were 3 for $9.00 and I got peach and Bill got peach and Black Raspberry.  I had a half when I got home and drooled!

I found an ice cream scoop like I have at home at the market that we were wanting for the RV.  Once we stowed those items we visited the Amish meat and cheese store, Yoder’s.  I got a jar of pickled okra that I hope Bill won’t like!  We got some Colby, cheese curds, and an aged grass fed white cheddar!  Now to pace ourselves…..

Locals

I dropped some mail in town and we were ready for lunch.  We went to the Blue Gate Restaurant where we’d eaten before and they were crowded.  After about a 10 minute wait we were seated.  It’s supposed be Amish cooking and it’s OK but I’m not impressed by it.  Next time we will look at another place.

There were lots of buggies in and out of town so I got some photos of them.  The Amish have a lot of farms along the road to our campground so we see them outside working and a woman and her son trying to corner a colt.

It was supposed to rain about 4 but at 5:30 it’s still sunny and dry.  I am catching up on my photos and hotspotting from Bill’s phone to post and do some email.  It’s very quiet here since it’s mid-week and not many kids running wild.  We are trying to make some reservations to head home from Albuquerque while we have time and it’s months out.  Not sure of our plans for tomorrow but I’m sure we will be out and about for half the day!
