Time to head south

June 27 – Well we finally managed to leave Sherando Lake around 10:30.  I had a lot to load in the car, and then to drain and flush the tanks and fill the water tank.  Then we had to get a tree branch out of the slide topper and then when we went to hook up the car a part was missing and we had to find a cotter pin in the tool box that would work.  We said our sad good byes to Ray and Sue and Randy and Anita.  They were all such nice people and we hope to see them again along their or our travels.

Things went well until we hit Roanoke when the skies opened up and we pretty much had rain on and off until just north of our exit to Galax.  Then it started again in Galax and followed us out to where our camping club friends all have lots on the Big River.  It was great to see everyone but was still nasty out.  We parked the RV in a gravel lane on one couple’s property and he hooked us up to 50 amp service for the night.  We’re going to leave the RV there while we head to Florida and when we come back we will move it to a hook up with sewer and water also.  Several of them have extra hookups.  We hope to spend the 4th there so we can all cook out and party!

I pretty much got things ready to put in the car for the trip and got the electric cooler out and ready to pack in the morning.  One of the guys came over that we missed when we arrived and visited for a long while and that was nice.  Bill and Chris invited us to dinner but we had stuff I wanted to eat and not leave to spoil while we are gone.

We got great satellite reception and watched a bit of Tv then settled in to read before bed.
