A bit of touristing before work

June 10 – Only got up once again last night for Bill’s ice pack.  He seems better during the day so maybe we’re on the right track.

Once we got turned around, I put a load of laundry in and emptied the gray
View from Blue Ridge Parkway
tank and we headed to the Blue Ridge Parkway to Humpback Rock.  That is where Patty, the lady who is in charge of the sales in the VC works full time.  We enjoyed the drive up and of course the scenery is beautiful.  They have a nice VC for the park and an old Homestead that volunteers work in period costume.  We didn’t go today as we’d been there before.  From there we headed to Waynesboro.   Bill had a prescription he wanted to drop at Wal-mart and while there I had a short list.  Then we zoomed over to Sharp Shopper to get more cheese for Mark to take back to Florida.  They had Muenster for $1.99 a pound, unbelievable!  My family is going to be so constipated from all the cheese I’m sending back.  While there I got some produce for the next few days.

We had a quick lunch at Taco Bell.  I love the Belle Cantina or whatever it is.  It’s like a bowl from Chipotle.  Again we didn’t have much time before we needed to leave for work.  I got everything put away and it was a job to work 2 more bricks of cheese in the fridge and ears of corn!  I put the clothes in the dryer and packed our “bags” for today and off we went.

People were waiting when we arrived but that didn’t make it a busy day!  Once we got opened I checked the soda machine and it looked good.  Randy and Anita came to visit and I asked him to fix one the ceiling lights that was hanging down.  After they left I got out the ladder and cleaned all the cobwebs from the log ceilings, refilled the TP in the ladies shower house and then took a bag and gloves and did trash pick up.  I got quite a lot.  We were pretty busy today so that means we’ll be packed over the weekend as long as the weather holds.  While I was putting out the TP a lady said Bill sent her me as she lost her $1.50 in the soda machine.  I said I’d come take care of it as soon as I finished the last stall.  Before I could put the last 5 rolls in another girl showed up and said your husband sent me over to tell you he has a problem.  So I finished up and took my soda entourage over and sent them to the machine while I went in to get the keys.  While there I fixed Bill’s problem and found the soda had dropped in the machine but didn’t make it to the shute.

Bill and I went over the register again and he wrote it all down in more detail.  It’s not that hard but he gets to talking and doesn’t focus on what he’s doing.  At the end of the day we were short $1.  We recounted and rechecked it all but couldn’t find it.  We had a pile of change that I’ve found in various machines and left by customers so we used it to make up the difference.

Once we got home we had the leftover enchiladas.  I put out tablecloths on our huge picnic table and found my fire starters so we can make a fire tomorrow night when Mark, Gloria, Ray and Sherry get here.  I put out some citronella candles, so we’re good to go.
