Last Day at Sherando

June 26 – Bill got up OK this morning but after breakfast he went back to bed.  I put away our outside decorations and chairs, etc.  I did a little bit of packing up things and putting them in the car to go home and leave there.

Bill was feeling better by lunchtime and we went in at 1.  It was a pretty steady and busy day.  It was a really nice day out with lots of sun but not too hot.  It was nice to have items to sell, except no ice cream.  Oh well, it was our last day and I made sure when we left I took the chair cushions I bought for us and my canister of wet wipes (since there was no sink).  We left the replacements a long note and I made sure the drawer and the money bag were 100% in balance and the keys were all where they were when we started.

I was tired and glad we had leftover grilled chicken and Italian sausage to cook.  I had done up all the dishes this morning so left the dinner ones for in the morning after breakfast.  We packed our duffle bag for the one night on the road and Bill went through the stack of brochures we’ve collected and pitched a bunch.  We’re not planning to leave early, just by 10.  It’s about a 5 hours drive by RV to Galax, and we told them we wouldn’t be in until after lunch.

We love it here, so quiet and peaceful and lots of animals and such a beautiful place, although our neighbor and I both referred to it at the same time as Peyton Place!  But, time to move on!
