June 9 – We had a better night last night. Bill didn’t wake up until 4 for an ice bag. It was chilly out again and he asked for
another blanket. What crazy
weather. Since we wanted to go pick up
the hubcab for the RV we were up, showered, dressed and on the road by
10:00.
Our neighbor was taking apart a small tow trailer for behind a Workman
and
his project for the day was to sand it and paint it to look like a John
Deere like all the Workmans they use here.
They are a hardworking couple and so very nice. We have been lucky to have such nice people
next door.

On the way out we spoke with Natalie and told her we have Dr
appointments on the 23rd and she said no problem, we just won’t have
the VC open. They don’t work too hard to
encourage people to come here as volunteers.
It’s such a beautiful place and you only have to work 20 hours a week
for a free spot.
The Freightliner place was in Weyer
Cave , so not too far up
I-81. We decided to take the country road
route home and Bill didn’t know where our turn was so we missed the way home he
planned and came home the way we went to Elkton on Monday. It was better than the interstate. We stopped at Wal-mart so I could return two
things and then we had lunch at KFC. I
never eat there but Bill has been chanting the commercials all the time so we
went for the $5 meal. I had the pot pie
and it was very good. The crust was
light and crispy. It comes with a drink
and cookie so all the bases are covered.
Bill got tenders and he was happy!
We barely had time to get our stuff, go the bathroom and get to work at
2. Once we got opened I went out to
sweep out the little shed that houses the drink machines and ice machine. Then I had to go back out as a guest reported
the drink machine wouldn’t take paper money.
I got that fixed and pulled some weeds in the walkway. Later I checked the restrooms and restocked
the toilet paper. We had a pretty good
crowd and the chatter on the radios was the electric sites were all taken and
so we expect to be full for the weekend.
Later I had to go back to the restrooms and crawl under the door to the
handicapped toilet and unlock the door.
A lady in her wheelchair came to ask if I could check on it. I felt so bad for her as it’s not right
beside us. It was nasty and now that
I’ve done it I checked what I need for next time. I’ll take a folding chair or stool and get a
broom from the cleaning closet and reach down and slide the lock open.
With people in to chat and blow up rafts it was pretty steady. Bill even
commented how fast the time went by.
For dinner we finally finished off the potato salad and we had country ham. Bill had raw veggies and I finished some
broccoli and we each had a fried pie for dessert. Now they are gone! Boo hoo!
Check out the wheels |
Once I did up the dishes the neighbor said to come
over. He had finished his trailer project and they
even stenciled “Sherando
Lake ” on the
tailgate. He did a great job on it. Now he doesn’t want anyone to use it and
scratch it up. He also said the deer
came before we got home from work so we missed them tonight.
Ready to go! |
