June 11 – Bill had his worst night ever.
I think I got up with him 4 times.
His foot just kept feeling like a knife was in it. I’m not sure how much of this he’s going to
be able to take. He’s so tired the next
day from not getting quality sleep.
Once we had breakfast I cleaned the RV and did a load of laundry. I put out bug lights on the picnic table. Mark, Gloria, Ray and Sherry expected to be
here between noon and 1 and we were scheduled to work from 2 – 6. The plan was to cook out since the 6 of us
won’t fit in our car to go out to dinner. I made a peach jello pie and had snacks
ready. Our neighbor and his wife
graciously offered to get us some firewood so we could have a fire tonight and
sit out.
They arrived just after 1 and backed right in. We all stood out visiting and then the main guy
here, Kelly, stopped by to see why we were late getting to work. He wanted us scheduled for 1-6 and Natalie
said 2 – 6 for 5 days and that’s our 20 hours a week. He wasn’t happy that she overrode him and
said it was packed down there so we ate quickly and Mark drove us down so they
could use the car.
It was crazy busy! If we had
stuff to sell we would have made a lot of money today. We did make change a lot for the soda machine
and I ended up having to open it and get the quarters out to recycle. Then the machine wouldn’t work properly. I had one of the seasonals come see if he
could figure it out and he couldn’t so I went back out and unplugged it and
plugged it back in and apparently it reset and worked fine. It’s old and full of nasty bug parts so who
knows what is jammed in where it shouldn’t be!
We are almost out of candy and have maybe 15 bags of chip products left
for tomorrow. We have been selling
floats and rafts and fishing poles. We
even sold 2 t-shirts today! Mark and
Sherry came to get us at 6 but our boss lady was there bringing us more change
so we got out a little late.
Gloria wasn’t feeling well between motion sickness and a cold coming on
so she slept while the others went to a couple of shops. They all loved The Cheese Shop and did most
of their purchasing there. They picked
up chicken for tonight and then just came back and enjoyed relaxing after 4
days in DC.
Mark built a fire in the pit and Gloria still wasn’t up to par so the
rest of us sat out eating, drinking and talking until 10. Mark grilled the chicken, burgers and a few
hot dogs, Sherry made a salad and we had corn on the cob, watermelon and
pie. No one left hungry! It was really a nice evening. I wish they could have stayed longer. They all thought the park was really
beautiful.
