June 5 – The rain stopped but it’s one of those gloomy days when it
looks like rain any moment. We didn’t have a cell signal this morning so not
sure what’s up with that. Maybe later in
the day.
Once I made breakfast, cleaned up a day’s worth of dishes, cleaned the
litter box, I got on the computer to try and catch up on my blog info, only to
find that my flash drive I use with my tablet is corrupt and lost my journal
for the last couple of days! Bummer! My memory, being what it is, isn’t much help
in reconstruction! I did write up what I
remembered so I could get it posted.
When I unlocked the gate where we drive in to the VC, a bird flew out
of the gate post at me and scared the “stuffing” out of me! Then I looked and there is a large hole in
the side of the post and it’s hollow and there was a bird nest with 3 eggs in
it. I tried to take a picture down in
the hole but that didn’t work out so well.
It was fairly busy today which sure makes it go faster. It’s always a nice break when one of the other
volunteers comes by for a visit. Then we
get the scoop on what’s going on around the park and the local ones tell us
places to go visit or to eat. Always
good to get the local aspect!
The weather got ugly at the end of our shift and we closed a little bit
early once the beach cleared. No one but
us or the other employees are supposed to come through the gate but when we
went out there was an SUV parked and she said she followed a van in but he was
now gone. I know their plan was to get
closer to the buildings to load up all their canoes and stuff and I VERY nicely
told her they were not to come through the even if someone else did and that
she needed to get a move on so we could lock it back up. She wasn’t happy as her brood was in the
bathhouse getting dry clothes on. Not my
problem but I stood my ground and she had to drive out and around to the
parking lot and walk a lot further. Oh
well!
Still no cell service so we drove up to the laundry room and used the
wifi to watch the FINAL episode of “Castle”.
Ok ending but what a bummer that it’s now done!
