August 4 – After our regular Sunday breakfast and a bit of TV, we
thought we’d take a short ride around the lake at the campground. Geez, it was grueling. It was up and down all the way around and we
had to stop and walk the bikes up more than once. You can be sure that was a one time
experience. At least we rode off that
soft serve from last night.
After lunch we left for Kelly’s friends, Peggy and Tommy Buchanan, who
live in Cartersville also. We enjoyed a
couple of hours visiting. The guys
walked some of the property while Kelly and Peggy caught up on the kids and the
husbands. That could have taken all
day! Peggy served one of Bill’s
favorites, banana pudding. He was hoping
she would since she did the last time we visited and ever since he’s asked for
it. It was nice that she remembered and
he so enjoyed it. She gave Kelly the
recipe so there could be banana pudding on the horizon for him again sooner.
Linda and Kelly |
From there we went to Kelly’s other friends, Mike and Linda Boggs. They had visited Florida in May but Bill
didn’t get to see them. He sat out at
the pool with Mike and their son Michael and talked while Kelly and Linda did
the same in the house. Linda made a
delicious dinner with veggies from her garden topping off our meal. Kelly provided dessert and it appeared
everyone left the table happy.
The guys disappeared outside so Kelly and Linda sat out on the patio and
enjoyed the hummingbirds and more catching up.
With Linda retiring in February they can extend their next trip to
Florida to include a few days in Ocoee with us and seeing Mike’s nephew and
family who also live there. We would
love to have them. A couple of hours is
just not long enough.
Mike managed to blow the goober out of the drains on the truck topper
box so Bill was very grateful and happy that Mike offered. We had bought some wire to poke through but
it wasn’t stiff enough. The air hose
Mike had was much more effective.
Bill wanted to leave before it got really dark, as he really does not
like driving on those roads. Mike gave
us a better way back which also put us out at the gas station so we could fill
up before leaving tomorrow. So the ride
home was uneventful other that stopping for fuel. We did see one dead deer and 3 live ones
though.
