Finally have our Flags on display |
June 5 – I woke up early
today! I relaxed with my cup of coffee
and played my solitaire for the day. We
ate early and went for our 2 mile walk and by 9:30 we were back and leaving for
our shrub trimming duty. Bill dropped me
off while he went to see about getting one set of the trimmers sharpened. He came back with a file and another trimmer
that extends and cuts thicker branches.
We worked at it for 2 hours. We are
cutting a lot of branches but boy, there is so much more to do.
After lunch Bill was going to
Wal-mart to get his script and a few things we weren’t able to get yesterday
and McDonalds to use the Wifi. I told
him I didn’t want to go as I really wanted some just “quiet” time alone with no
TV, radio or conversation. He was gone
about 2 hours. He met a WWII veteran and
they talked for a long time and he really enjoyed that as he’s quite a WWII
buff.
While he was gone I showered, did
a load of laundry and worked on the computer.
It was so nice! I do love quiet
and I never turn on the TV or radio when I’m alone. Molly makes good company, she likes quiet
too.
Once he got back I used a recipe
from my new Gluten-Free cookbook for oat fruit bars. They have cranberries, apricots, coconut and
chocolate chips. They’re more a
breakfast bar or energy bar.
We decided to change things up
and go out to dinner tonight and into Searcy on Monday to a movie. We went to one of the Mexican restaurants,
Las Playitas, which is the closest to us.
The chips and salsa were pretty good, the service was excellent and the
food was good. Not the same as Taquitos
at home, but good. We were home in
plenty of time to chill a bit then walk over to the gatehouse for our 2 hour
shift. It was not busy, but steady, with
a few phone calls and quite a few walk-ups looking for a site for 2
nights. We had a couple of reservation
arrivals.
It got a little sketchy with the
weather and the deer didn’t come out that we could see.
