Not much going on

June 12 – We got a little earlier start today as it’s getting hotter and that makes it pretty
Home away from home
warm to be out trimming bushes.  We did our 2 mile walk and then our 2 hours of trimming.  You can finally really tell we are making headway.  Bill borrowed an adjustable ladder and we still could not reach the top to trim.  I tried pushing the top knots toward him with a rake and we did get more trimmed but the bushes are so wide we still can’t reach the ones in the middle.  It looked nice when we got there as all of the prior trimmings had been hauled off so Bill stated new piles.

We took a well deserved break, had lunch and I did 2 loads of laundry.  I really need to get on my ironing pile.  Maybe tomorrow!  We discussed getting LED lights to put on the RV under the main awning.  Camping World has them on sale but they are not long enough.

We forgot to go pick up the starter for the grill that ACE ordered for us, so our plan was to leave at 3:30 and stop at ACE for the starter, an extra plug for the gizmo on the car for the hitch and get some 2 sided foam tape to repair our slide corner piece, then go to

McDonald’s for wifi until it was time to go eat dinner.  We don’t think the starter is the right one for our Weber but got it and our other items, and spent about 90 minutes at McD’s and discussed where to try for dinner.  Brothers BBQ won the vote, but it was a big disappointment.  We both got the rib combo of ribs and bbq beef (they don’t do brisket).  Well, the ribs were dry and stringy and the beef was soooo salty!  I couldn’t eat it.  The roll was like uncooked dough!  For the sides I took 2 different cole slaws, one with vinegar and one with mayo.  That vinegar one was so strong I drained them and mixed them together and then only ate half.  What a disappointment!  That’s 2 bbq places so far and neither one great.  At least the last one was better!

We had some time at home before going to “work” at 8.  I heated up our leftover peach crisp and shot some whipped cream on it and it was better than last night!  No need to take any snack with us, just big containers of water.

Work was very busy!  I didn’t get to read a word in my book.  Bruce and Theresa, other volunteers, came by to go over the July 4 menu.  I was assigned baked beans; there will be 14 of us there.  We tried to visit but the phone rang and the guests kept coming to the windows so they gave up and left.  It was pretty steady up until 10 when we left.  Bill cannot get over how many people arrive to camp at 9 pm on Friday night with no reservation and then get upset that there are no spaces with electric and water left.  Oh well!
