June 3 – What a day! Good, tiring and fun!
After breakfast we had trash to
dispose of so we walked to the dumpsters and then did all of

area. There was no one out except the
man in the pass booth. Then it was time
to go to work! Our first duty was to
paint over the numbers on some picnic tables that had been moved to different
spaces. That really took no time at all. Then we brought the painting supplies back to
the RV and got our shrub trimmers and headed out to trim the forsythias at the
front entrance. Well, once we actually
got there and looked, we should not have agreed to this project. Geez, they are some huge shrubs and we have 2
scissor trimmers and no ladder and no real idea of how much to cut them
back. I prefer to be more aggressive but
Bill leaned to “just a trim”. Apparently
they haven’t been trimmed in a very long time.

Before photo |
We spent an hour and didn’t
finish 1 bush and there must be 10 or so.
We raked up our trimmings for who ever to come by and pick them up. From here on out we will spend 2 hours at a
time and maybe be done by the time we leave in July!
After lunch we finally found the
location of the disc golf

course, that isn’t even started yet so doubt we will
be helping with it. Then we went to the
base of the dam where it empties into the Red River
so Bill could get a photo of Sam with the dam.
Sam now goes everywhere we do! We
went to the top of dam to take a photo to maybe send in to the West Orange Times. Sam had to have his photo taken too.

We stopped in town at ACE to find
a plug for the car hitch that got lost at some point. We’re going to try using a sink stopper. They also ordered the igniter for our grill. If it’s not the right one, we can return it.
We had some time to relax before
dinner so I made some short cakes to freeze and have later for dessert. After dinner I went out to check my corn crib
and it was empty and one leg was broken.
Actually I inherited it. I put

corn in after finding a piece of wood to replace the broken leg. I came inside to get my camera to take a
photo of the crib and the outside of the RV with our shed, there were 2 deer at
the crib. I sat on my step and took
photos. They kept looking at me and kept
eating. I told Bill and he was looking
out the window and got to see them. They
stayed a long time and once they started back behind the RV a third one showed
up. They never got close together for me
to get all 3. Later we saw them cross
the road to the day use area and then go down the road towards the marina.
We had a guy stop by to ask about
overnight camping and then started planning our outing to Little Rock tomorrow.
