July 13 – The alarm went off at 7, signaling it was
time to get up and moving to meet for breakfast with the other volunteers and
contract people. It was not looking too
nice out and then we had a quick rain shower.
We met at the Rustic Inn in Heber Springs. There were a lot of cars, a good sign! We didn’t know there were 2 entrances, one
for the main seating and one for groups.
It was rather surprising to walk in and not see a single person we
knew. I though we got the date, time,
place wrong and when one group asked who we were looking for and I responded he
said that’s them behind us. We STILL
didn’t know a single soul but they were all wearing their park name tags. We got to meet lots of people from quite a
few of the other parks around the late. They get together every 2 weeks, once
on this side of the lake and then on the other side. Everyone was very nice and we enjoyed both
the company and food. Delicious sausage
gravy and biscuits! We were still kinda
upset that even the couple who told us about it didn’t go.
There was a 50% chance of rain
most of the day so once we got home and changed I suggested we get our outside
jobs done. We used a screwdriver and
hammer to gently push the slide trim back up to where it lined up with the
paint swirls and then some 2 sided foam tape to put the corner cover back
on. We’ll have to keep an eye on that as
we didn’t want to use anything too permanent until we get home and have our
tech guy check it.
I marked the holes in the back
seat covers where the headrests go and got them all cut and hand sewn. They lined up and fit well but that cover is
just not right for that back seat due to the split seating and armrest in the
middle. We “made do” for now but you
can’t wear the seat belts as he didn’t want me to cut holes in them yet.
We got out the grill starter kit
and it was definitely not the right one.
We got what we think might be the part number and our model and serial
number to try again when we return this one.
We had a light lunch and watched
some TV. I still haven’t ironed, maybe
tomorrow! The wind started to pick up
and drop some more rain around 3. It
rained pretty hard until about 5.
After dinner I went out to feed
the deer and Jason came by. He asked
Bill if he would mow the grass at our site and up to the park signage. We turned in our paperwork and while we stood
talking 2 deer came up. It started
drizzling at 8 and we told him we needed to get to work.
It was a pretty slow evening but
went pretty fast.
