June 8 – We changed up our walk
route today as it’s getter hotter out.
Instead of spending so much time on the main road of the park, we’re
doing the first 4 loops. They are still
up and downhill which is good for us, but at least the loops are under the
trees which the road is not.
After showers we headed into
Searcy to have lunch and see a movie. We
went to the Greek House and it was OK.
I’ve never been to a Greek restaurant that didn’t have stuffed grape
leaves and pita bread. I thought those
were staples of the Greek diet like gyros and Greek salad. I did have a very tasty spanakopita over rice
with tzatziki and a side salad. Bill
went with a Margherita flatbread on a naan pita and side of pasta salad. We liked it all well enough to lick our
platters clean!
We drove around to find where a
couple other restaurants were for future trips into town. Since we had some time before the movie I
made my stop at Staples. We saw “Spy”
and it was totally hilarious! A couple
of twists but in my humble opinion the continual use of the F word was
overkill. I don’t see that adding to the
humor of the movie. Melissa McCarthy is
just plain funny as was Jason Statham.
Bill dropped me at Kroger to
check it out while he took his car to the carwash. I did buy some marked down meat (my kids say
growing up they never had food that wasn’t marked down or in a dented can), but
I’ve learned every buck I save is one I can spend on something else! Bill surprised me with a Frosty for the ride
home. Not being a good sharer, I did
share it with him!
The rest of the day was pretty
laid back! We read a lot and Bill
watched some TV. We had a pretty hard
rain for about an hour and I just got my corn out before it started but didn’t
get to watch for my deer. I chopped up
the leftover pork roast and bbq sauced it and heated up leftover rice and green
beans and had fresh tomato and cucumber and called it a meal!
