August 5 – The trip up and
down the mountains was not nearly as stressful as it was coming. Some of the change is it was not foggy so we
couldn’t see 3 feet ahead and it was wasn’t raining. It was much faster than it was coming. So we had a nice drive behind Dave and Donna
and we took one rest stop break and enjoyed the scenery.
Our stop for the day was
Teslin, YK so we crossed the border again into Canada and that went really
smooth as well. It’ kinda helps to be later
in the line of us as they have heard the details already so pretty much get
your tag number and off we go!
Teslin was a new campground
for us as it was the one that was flooded on our way up. It is right on a lake and they had at least
50 of those huge sand bags that are about 3 foot cubes. They had been moved away from the lake side
and it appears they are back in business for all of the park. We’re pretty sure a lot of the sites are taken
by fishermen.
Bill and I went up to the
office building looking for a grocery store and it has a small restaurant run
by native Americans. They told us the
grocery store is across the road and as we walked out here cam Barb who was
also looking for the grocery store so we went together. I was mainly looking for a hot plate to cook
on since I can’t use the stove at this point.
No luck on that but I did get a couple of things and Barb found what she
wanted as well.
It was starting to rain on the
walk back so we kinda rushed along. The
rain didn’t last long and we did see the new couple arrive. They were on the same trip 5 days ahead of us
and had RV issues. They will finish out
the trip with us.
The campground was OK, nothing special. We did have water and electric so I did get to do a load of laundry.
