Super tour of Revelstoke Dam

August 17 – A lazy morning!  Just reading a book and eventually getting ready and dressed to go into town.  We had lunch at home then headed directly to the dam.  We passed inspection with all of our ID and Covid cards.  There were about 15 on our tour.  The guide did an excellent job telling the history of the dam, how long it took to build, how much it cost and could answer every question anyone asked.  It was about an hour and once we were “released” you were free to go back to every place we’d been on our own.  We were a bit disappointed that the 3 Indigenous tribes that live along the river and catch the bulk of their food from it got shorted in the deal.  A lot of their fishing areas are no longer available to them and they have to rely on the government to “stock” the fish for them to catch.  There are no fish ladders in the areas that were changed to build the billions of dollars dam and 8 years to do it.  It does supply electric al the way to Vancouver.  It was very interesting and mammoth!

Then we stopped at a shop we had passed that deals with AC and they said they didn’t have any openings for this afternoon or tomorrow.  If they had a spot it would be up to 2 hours depending on what the problem was.  So I guess Bill will call ahead in the states and see when we can maybe get it looked at.  It’s that or wait til we get home.

We made a quick stop at the grocery for some produce and would you believe they didn’t have a single peppermint candy or other hard candy except suckers?  So I left with 6 suckers as my mouth and throat dry out very easy and I have to be sucking a candy or sipping water.  I guess it’s might be a pleasant change!
