Bus Tour of Skagway

August 3 – Today we had a bus tour of Skagway.  It was for a couple of hours and we visited the “old” cemetery where Soapy, the bad guy and the good guy were both buried.  There are a number of graves there and most have wood picket fences around them.  We could hear a waterfall in the back and most of us walked back to it.  It was a very tall and forceful waterfall.  Bill did not want me to get out on the rocks in the water, but it’s kinda “my thing”.  So I ventured out a bit and several of the group took my picture.  If I had worn my good sneakers I would have gone further out.  The tour was very informative and he took us up the highway we came in on and stopped at several pullouts so we could see the raging river and things in the valley that we couldn’t see while driving down in the RV’s.  It was a nice afternoon.

Of course we did go back to town and do more shopping today!   I think this is our last Alaska stop so if we want stuff it’s kinda now or come back again!

We were pooped by the end of the day.  Dave has been tested positive for Covid so he’s not been about to leave the RV since we arrived.  Donna has hung with us but also the town is so small there is no fear of getting lost so she has ventured out to check out the shops as well.

We kinda invited ourselves to dinner with the other Dave and his wife Laurie.  Once we all got to the restaurant, we found that 2 other couples and a single had joined up so we had a table of 9 and were lucky to get seated as quickly as we did.   There are not a lot of restaurants since they have a short season and this was a seafood place.  Service was good and the company is always fun.  I had crab stuffed halibut and Bill had a ribeye steak.  Yum!

Then it was back to the RV and getting ready for our last full day here!
