Happy Independence Day!

July 4 – We were both up early this morning.  I failed to turn the sound off of my phone and the tenant in our rental house text to let us know a huge limb of the BIG tree in the back yard broke off and fell on the back neighbor’s Tiki Bar in her back yard.  They wanted to get it removed TODAY for fear it might shift and destroy their Tiki Bar.  What a way to start the day!  Bill called the neighbor and I asked her to email photos.  She said she had already called a tree removal company to come today!  Jiminy, that means the price will double.  I think they just want to have the 4th in the back yard in the Tiki Bar.  Tomorrow I will have to call the insurance company and see what they say about damages to the neighbor’s property.  I asked her to get a quote for the limb removal and another for the entire tree as we think it’s best to get it totally removed at this point.

After breakfast Bill went for a walk while I made a peach and a strawberry jello pies for the 4th BBQ this afternoon at the rec hall.  I started my back exercises the doctor gave 4 weeks ago.  Hopefully if I do them 5 days a week it will start getting better.

We both wrote postcards and watched some television.  After a light lunch I replaced the shower head since I brought the new one all the way from Florida, then showered and dressed in my patriotic clothes for the BBQ.  We headed over at 4 and the tables were beginning to fill up with food and people.  There was an excellent variety today.  I really enjoyed the broccoli salad and corn soufflĂ©.  The desserts did not impress me as one was a bought cake, a banana pudding, and a couple things I could not clearly identify.  I think Bill tried several.  I was happy to have a whole pie left to bring home.

Most of the day we’ve watch movies relating to the 4th of July and this evening was the best,  “1776” that was also on Broadway and then a movie.  I was fortunate enough to see the play with my parents and brother in New York when I was in high school and sitting behind us was Sidney Poitier and my dad asked him to sign my Playbill and I still have it!  Anyway, Bill and I both love this movie.

Promptly at 10PM we went out to see if we could see any fireworks and zilch!  Oh well!
