July 19 – We didn’t sleep so well last night. I was up late but still got up at 8:30. Bill was about 9 but said he just needs to
accept that he will never really sleep again.
Since I had a full hamper from before we left I did a load of laundry
this morning and put them in the dryer when we left. Will do another tomorrow so I don’t have
dirty clothes all over.
Nancy came over to go over the menu for Wednesday’s
birthday-anniversary cook out. I was
last on the list so wasn’t sure what to bring.
Later I went over to talk to Chris about it and I suggested Waldorf
salad and she

thought that would be good. With those that live here and the
visitors there will be 18. That’s a
pretty good crowd. I also borrowed their home phone and called in to Directv
and we got the satellite up and running.
While I was on the phone we watched about 40 ducks float down the river
but I couldn’t get to the camera to take a photo. Missed opportunity!
I put the cooler away and charged my drill and put some things back
under in storage. Just piddled! We had a light lunch and then went into
Galax. We went to McDonalds to use the
wifi. We had small ice cream cones
(first step to cutting back). They only
have one electric outlet and someone

was sitting by it and Bill didn’t have
hardly any charge on his computer and I had 2 batteries but only last about 90
minutes. I got some bills paid and
called the Red Sox but they can’t resend the tickets as a PDF but did tell me
they have an area at the stadium where I can sell them and employees to
help. I’ll try again tomorrow to get
them listed on a couple other sites that were recommended. I didn’t get to plan any further on our trip
so we or I will go back tomorrow. Maybe
to the library where we have power.

Our RV and Bill's scooter |
Next door was a Food
City grocery so I started
there just to check it out. Nice store,
local grown veggies if available. I got
a few things but still needed to go to Wal-mart a few miles up the road. Bill got a scooter there and tootled around
and got a couple things on the list.
Then we stopped at what was advertised as a Five and Dime. It was a junky store but did have some good
buys. All the 4th of July
items were 3/$1. I got both size napkins
and small paper plates for the next patriotic holiday. Our last stop was finding the post
office. We turned where I thought the
lady said to turn but didn’t see it so we pulled in a place to turn around and
I asked a guy who said to go to the light and turn right and there it was. I think she must have told me that but I
wasn’t listening. Then we went on a
couple of the old downtown streets and it’s a pretty nice little downtown area.
It was close to 6 when we got home.
I’m sure everyone else had already eaten. That was confirmed when they started arriving
next door to play cards while we were still sitting at the table. Nancy
stopped by to confirm the menu for tomorrow.
Then I logged our expenses for the day and typed my blog.
