July 25 – 5 months til Christmas!
I think we all need a reminder that we’re on the down slope of the year!
I thought we would sleep later than we did but I was up at 8 and Bill
wasn’t long after. I made his Sunday
breakfast on Monday and he was excited to have blueberry scones, bacon, soft boiled
egg and some nice fruit.
We kinda laid around and he watched some TV. I finally put an additional latch on the
malfunctioning bedroom sink cabinet door. Works really well now.
Chis, Pam and Steve’s son, stopped by and visited for a while before
getting to work. It was nice of him and
good to see him. We feel very welcomed
even though we are just for a couple of nights.
Bill wanted to go to the Vanilla Bean Café for lunch as it was a
favorite 2 years ago. We headed over and
the bridge was closed and we were detoured and then were just left dead in the
water. Finally had to get the Google
Maps to get us there. Lunch was good
(but pricy) and we enjoyed it. Then leaving
we came to the other side of the closed bridge and were detoured in the other
direction. Luckily it brought out on the
main road so we weren’t lost again. We
stopped at our favorite ice cream place but they no longer sell hand dipped ice
cream, just prepackaged stuff. So we
went to our second favorite place and Bill got coffee with oreos and cookie
dough and I got a coffee and coconut. Hard
to pick a favorite! We met a girl there
visiting relatives here who is from Jacksonville .
Bill had a nice chat with her about Florida and Florida
State .
Time to head back to the RV where I worked on my journal, banking and
washed a load of laundry. Bill read for
a bit then went to lie down. At 4:45 I went
up to the office and sat on the porch with Pam and Roxann and had a nice glass
of wine. Steve got showered and joined
us and we discussed dinner plans etc. At
6:15 I walked home to get Bill and there he was, dressed and ready but hadn’t
called me. So we drove up to the office
and let Pam and Steve drive. I took a
small carrot cake I had in the freezer with some cream cheese frosting for
dessert. We had dinner at the Midway
which is Greek and Italian. I had Souvlaki
and Bill went with a calzone. Pam had a
huge steak salad and Steve had steak. Bill
was the only one to have leftovers as his calzone was huge! It was very good and we had intended to buy
them dinner but Steve told the waitress before we even sat down that he was to
get the check. Sneaky! We really appreciated it but wanted to take
them out for allowing us to camp for free for 2 nights.
When we got back we sat on the porch and had our cake that everyone
enjoyed. I left Steve the last little
piece! We talked a lot about RV’s since
they bought one earlier this year and plan to start doing some travel in their
off season. She used to drive a
school bus so she was not the least bit afraid to drive it. Their son has an RV repair shop so they have
good back-up!
Time to call it a day as we head on closer to Boston tomorrow.
