July 2 – I woke several times
during the wee morning hours to the pitter patter of rain on the roof. It actually didn’t stop until about 11. The sun finally came out and I’m sure the
holiday campers were happy to see it! It
kinda spoiled our tentative plans to go to Ozark Folk State Park so now will
try that on Saturday. Also no walking
today!
I made a small batch of Fried
Bread (some would call if French Toast but my recipe is handed down by the
Prince family and much better than what my mom made as French Toast) with bacon
and fruit. Sometimes I need a little
change!
This is a permanent wave machine. The curlers are on end and it's electric! |
I worked weeding and Bill read
until shower time and lunch and then we headed into town. We had talked about visiting the Cleburne
County Historical Society ever since we spotted it beside the park in town. I suggested we go, as it’s down to now or
never! It’s set up in an old house and
it’s also set up for historical research of the people and places in the
county. There was a lot of information
on the building of the dam and lots of old memorabilia. I met a nice lady and Bill chatted a long
time with the volunteer of the day.
Since we were across from the
park we took our empty water jugs and filled them again with water from the
Black Sulphur spring. It smells pretty
nasty but in 2 days you would never even know.
I think this water is better than that we got in Hot Springs .
It was the busiest we’ve seen at
Wal-Mart but I wanted to get netting for on the road and a few things I didn’t
tell Bill to get yesterday. We didn’t
take long. Actually it took longer to
get in and out of the parking lot than it took in the store.
People are really pouring into
the park now. I’m sure some will be here
a week and some until Sunday. There’s
going to be a band here Saturday night and fireworks over the lake, so should
be a good 4th!
