Last Day in Arkansas! Mice -- Yikes!

July 5 - It’s been a long day!  I was up at 8 and finally woke Bill at 9.  We had a nice Sunday breakfast and Bill wanted to get in one last walk.  We did out 2 miles and the weather was pretty nice.  Not too warm yet and not so not much humidity.

After our walk Bill got busy outside putting our lights and things away and I started on laundry, changing sheets, putting things in out of the way spots, doing dishes and a bit of cooking.  He asked me to come help outside and I suspected a problem when I found cotton and q-tips in the corner of a compartment.  Later I was in my spice drawer and I saw my suspicions of mice were on track.  I had seen a couple of holes in my bird feed bag earlier and taped it and put it in a Rubbermaid tub but thought maybe it was field mice.  Well, I had to pitch stuff in my spice drawer and clean it out and then discovered several bags of my flours under the sink were eaten into.  What a mess!  I had to clean it all out and pitch stuff and it really put me behind.  I told Bill when he went to the store to bring back 8 mouse baits.  I’m ticked!  There was even tiny poop in the 2 bathroom drawers.

When Bill got back I put 6 packets in various compartments under the RV and 1 under the kitchen sink and 1 in one of the bathroom drawers.  I’m hoping once we leave here that will be the end of them but the indication is they might be building nests with the cotton and some bits off our tire covers and Bill’s carwash towels.  This may not be good!!!

Bill wants to know why Molly isn’t doing her job!

With everything going on I forgot to get anything out for dinner so we finally went to Pizza Pie-zazz.  We both knew we were going for the calzone.  We did and it was good but we should have asked how big a medium was.  It’s the size of a folded 12 inch pizza!  Needless to say we did not eat it all.  I ate half of mine and Bill left a little less, so we have dinner for on the road one night!

On the way back we dropped off a dish we brought watermelon home in to Bruce and Teresa and went in and visited a while.  They are really after us to come back next year so we need to give it some thought.  We drove down around the Marina and the picnic table and island were totally above water and for the first time we could drive all the way around the marina road.  There was maybe 5-6 inches of water in one low spot but you could finally cross.

We thought we were going to work tonight but there were only 14 reservations coming in and by 7:30 there were only a couple left.  Jason had told us to check in and play it by ear.  It was better for us as I hadn’t gotten to get on the computer in 2 days and wanted to do some catching up before we hit the road tomorrow.

We have certainly enjoyed our 7 weeks in Arkansas and everyone we’ve met has been super nice.  This is a great place to volunteer!

Now on to the next adventure!
