August 6 – Since we were gone
yesterday and going tomorrow we didn’t plan much for today. I had gotten way behind on my blog and photos
so wanted to work on that in addition to always having laundry to do. We were sketchy on whether or not we were
going to town or to a movie. We ended
up thinking we were going to a movie and the grocery but once we arrived we
knew we didn’t have time for both so we went to Big Y (grocery), Staples for a
laptop case and Wal-Mart.
We couldn’t stay in town because
we were going to a dinner theatre production with Barbara and Ron tonight. Kam had sent me a gift card to Golden Lamb
Buttery in a neighboring town and we found out from Pam, our boss, that they do
a MADD benefit production a number of times during the summer. The price was reasonable so we decided to use
the GC for that. They also do lunches
and dinners but this seemed like a nice
idea.
Pam and her friends go every summer to whatever the show is and they
happened to go tonight also. The dinner
started at 6:30 and we arrived at about 6 and Barbara and I checked out the
gift shop as expected. Then the guys got
us drinks and found seating on the back veranda overlooking the farm fields,
animals and lake. It was quiet and
peaceful and we took photos of the various farm animals and chatted with other
guests. Pam introduced her friends and
told us what would be happening. She had
told me earlier to bring something to save our seats for the theatre part so we
had done that.

The building is actually a huge
barn with several small dining areas and the small stage area and seating. It’s very quaint and an interesting
place. Dinner is a buffet and they served
fried chicken, potato salad, carrot salad, tossed salad, corn soufflé and
during intermission there was coffee, tea and assorted desserts. The food was very good except the potatoes
were not cooked enough in the potato salad.
The desserts were yummy also. You
could go back for seconds but I think Bill was the only one who did. The play was mostly a drama but with quite a
bit of humor. It was only 3 male
characters and it was called “The Drawer”.
It was very good and we all enjoyed it, although it was kinda sad.
Ron and Barbara had ridden with
us as they wanted to hitch their truck up tonight since they are going to VT
tomorrow to get their new RV. We were
only 15 minutes to home and it was a very nice evening! We hate to see them leave on Monday.
