My bird didn't make it!

When birdy was feeling OK
August 27 – After a good breakfast we rode our bikes to the office this morning. We have 10 new reservations. It will be a busy weekend. It was forever before our THREE campers left. We only cleaned two of the sites today as we went back to the RV and started on more washing and waxing. When Bill went out this morning the baby bird was down on the ground and we had to keep moving it into the shade as the sun moved. The other swallows kept flying around and we think the parents came down and fed it some.

We finished the back of the RV and the front. We did the big slide on one side and Bill washed the rest of the RV on the door side. This is not a fun job.

After lunch I dropped Bill off at maintenance so he could drive a mower back and work on our unruly yard around the campground. I took 2 loads of wash and one of rags up to the laundry. I read my book and checked email and Karen emailed that David was in the emergency room. He was having trouble breathing and then threw up and just was not feeling well and told her to take him. By the end of the day they admitted him and they are running tests. Poor Karen and David, and he was doing so well at home and getting on the treadmill.

When I got home from doing the laundry the little bird was dead. I was so sad. He had scooted out into the sun again and Bill was out on the mower so there was no one to move him to the shade. When Bill came back he dug a little hole and I wrapped it in some newspaper and we buried him and put a big stone over the grave so nothing will dig it up. I felt so bad. Maybe I should have called the wildlife people to come get it. Next time!

I ran the extra clothesline and had both lines full and the dryer. At least it was breezy enough to get them dry soon so I could hang out the rest. We both folded and got that chore out of the way.

We have 4 campers tonight. Most of the day, we were the only ones here. Thursday the weekenders will start arriving.

I made lemon pepper salmon and mahi mahi for dinner with corn on the cob, leftover broccoli and leftover cornbread. Then I baked a batch of People’s Cookies after we took Xena up by the office for a walk and we delivered invitations to a Mexican Dinner we are going to host on Friday for the volunteers and our Ranger Manuel. He’s like one of us but he gets paid!

We watched a new show and Perception and now it’s time to read a while.
