5/6 - Back to work again! Having 6 days
off this week was great but time to get back on track. Sue and I were pretty busy Saturday morning
but things slowed a bit after lunch and we folded and cut her netting for
scrubbies and I made one for myself. We
balanced and we werevon our way shortly after 7.
Nice!
There
was some excitement today. I found out
the power was off last night for about a 45 minutes. Since we were not watching TV we didn’t
notice except that at one point the lights in the RV got brighter. Silly me, my first thought was it was an
issue with my crazy eye. I asked Bill if
the lights just got brighter and he affirmed they did. Phew, at least I’m still not going blind!
Then
Sue and I learned the reason for the power outage was family of 4 with the 16
year old son driving hit a buffalo just up the road and rolled their Explorer
several times into the power sub-station.
Luckily they had a roll cage on the vehicle and the mom had some cuts
and hurt her arm, but the vehicle was totaled and the buffalo had to be put
down. They had to move him away so the
carnivores would not feast on him by the road and cause another accident or
2 with people slowing down to see or get photos. The family was travelling with 3
dogs: one was fine, one had some cuts
and their 2 legged boxer ran off. We had
several callers leaving a number in case anyone reported seeing the dog. As it turned out one of our guests came in
and said he saw this 2 legged dog so we gave him the number and he met the
search team where he spotted Duncan and they followed the fence line and there
he was, exhausted from spending the night walking on his front legs, tired and
hungry, looking for his family. Duncan is an amazing
animal with a sad beginning but now experiencing a happy life with a loving
family. www.duncanlouwho.com.
We
had leftovers and Bill turned on some stupid movie on sharks in the river some
where. He’s going to be on shark alert
for a few days I think. Sharknado 5 is
premiering soon and he’s getting ready for it.
Those are the most ridiculous movies and so hokey!
Sunday
was our first day on our own since we were here 2 years ago. I knew I was going to be busy since we had 14
reservations when we closed last night.
Well, it got worse. I ended up
having 20+ check ins and it got crazy! If
the owner’s grandson had not been dropped off to do up the vacation laundry for
his family I don’t know what I’d have done.
Bill was weed eating and could not hear his phone so Andrew filled
propane tanks, parked RV’s, repaired a washer and a dryer and then counted and
filled the quarters in the change machine.
Sue noticed the line of RV’s out into the road and came over and I gave
her the project of piecing together a month stay for a walk in! People just don’t have a clue of how busy every
place is in the valley. Once we got over
that hurdle I managed to tidy up the Laundromat a bit and clean out some of the
machines before the next wave. They were arriving in 3’s for some reason of timing!
I will have to say, I was so pleased that at 7:00 we had no spaces left
and no one coming in late. Bill came in
to help me sweep, empty all the trash, clean the lint traps in all of the
dryers and once he left I balanced. I
ended up over .20, so that made for an excellent end to the work day.
The
word today was there was another accident in just about the same place with a
motorcycle and a semi. That does not
sound good for the motorcycle.
All
I wanted to do at home was get off my feet!
The bottoms were so sore from standing all day at the counter or walking
on the hard linoleum floors. I just sat
for a while and eventually worked up enough steam to heat up leftover meats,
zap an ear of corn and warm the other odds and ends to get out of the
fridge.
Bill
had on Sharknado 5 and it was even hokier than the first 4. They managed to get some big name people to do
cameos: Fabio (as the Pope if you can
believe it), Al Roker, Olivia Newton-John, Kathy Gifford and the other lady on
the morning show; and the list goes on!
I read and crocheted, trying desperately to block out the horrible story
line and lack of acting!!!
Once
he turned it off we both read until we were yawning and unable to make it any
longer!
Lights
out!
