August
9 – It was cold again this morning!
Brrr! Today was shopping day and
we ended up getting a later start than planned.
I did another load of laundry so we’re caught up for a few days! Bill took his walk and did some weeding. We finally headed to Rexburg around 11.
On
the way through Ashton we stopped at Dave’s Jubilee Market so I could scope out
the prices. I picked up an ad and some
of their prices were competitive for a small grocery. Once we exited in Rexburg we stopped at the
Deseret Thrift Store to check on books, but didn’t find any. I did find a new with the tags Croft and
Barrow top I liked and new socks for Jude and undies for Shiloh . I’m always watching for things for their Christmas
stockings and gifts. Then we had lunch
at Wendy’s and a quick stop at Dollar Tree.
We decided to give the library a try for books in their books for sale
shop and left with 5 for $5. That’s a deal!
Bill
dropped me at Albertson’s while he took the car through a car wash and then we
went to Wal-mart. That took a bit longer
as I had a pretty long list. We usually
do self check out so I can bag things like I want and we had a devil of a time
with it today. Then it was back on 20
for home. It started getting dark once
we reached Ashton so I hurried in to get the sale items and produce. It became nastier the further we drove and
the car temp went from 80 in Rexburg to 47 in just a few minutes. We had some cold rain and by the time we got home the temp was back
up to 60.
I
got things put away and got supper started as Harry, my nephew, was due in from
Salt Lake around 7. I made pickle steaks with red wine gravy,
hand mashed potatoes, steamed broccoli and corn muffins. I had intended to make dessert but since we left
late and got home late there wasn’t time so everyone had a huckleberry ice
cream sandwich!
We
all watched a couple of TV shows and started winding down for the night. Harry and I were on the lap tops and Bill was
scrutinizing the atlas. Then it was
reading time and a good night’s sleep for a day at Yellowstone
tomorrow!
