Nice riverboat excursion!

June 3 – Today was a bit more interesting.  Bill had gotten tickets for us to go on a riverboat excursion on the Mississippi River.  At first it didn’t look like many were going as we boarded, then some school group of elementary kids boarded.  They actually were very well supervised and courteous.  They all had forms to fill in various information about the boat and river.  We started off on the top deck but it was colder out than we expected and noisy with the wind so we moved to the inside downstairs with a window seat.   We enjoyed the trip and waited for 2 LONG trains to cross the river on the rail bridge and then they opened the bridge so we could go through.  We had waited so long that they just took us thru and turned around.  The water was choppy and the Captain voiced concerns for a rough “landing” against the dock but he did a perfect job.  Other than the wind it was a very nice excursion!

After that we made a stop at Walmart and had lunch at Wendys.  One of Bill’s chains he wears all the time broke so we found a jeweler but she said it would have to be left as the clasp and hook would take a while to repair so I couldn’t leave it.  Bill had parked and walked around the block to Duluth Trading and met me back at the truck.  On the way back to the campground we stopped at Sam’s as I was hungry for a rotisserie chicken.  They were still cooking which encouraged me to look around and I did leave with my chicken but a couple other important items such as a big bottle of sangria!

Bill left for tonight’s baseball game and I got to enjoy some chicken!  I also make a peach jello pie! 

We got neighbors in by us so the campground was full and then the music started!  I have to say they were some of the worst country singers ever.  I didn’t see them but I think they were all on their last legs and mutilated some good songs.  It went on for a couple of hours and our RV was literally maybe 8 feet from the side of the building.  Bill didn’t know what he missed!
