Beautiful Land!!

June 5 - Today was the worst driving day so far this trip.  We were in the plains all day and the winds were horrible.  It’s not easy to keep the RV in my lane with major wind gusts hitting it continually.  I was really tired when the day ended.  My shoulder was hurting and I was really glad once we landed in Casselton, ND in a small campground.

We went through our list of things we hope to get repaired in Forest City, Iowa, home of the Winnebago Plant.  We will call in the next couple of days and see about getting an appointment on our way back from Alaska.  Might have to wait a few days but at least we can hopefully get everything done.  Better than waiting til we get home and have to wait even longer!

The farm lands have been totally flat until now and today things got hillier.  (is that a word?)  Before you saw a lot of farmhouse but now they are much larger farms and lots of rolling hills.  There are not as many homesteads and as much wind as there is I can see why you wouldn’t want to live here.  The traffic is minimal until you go through a decent size city (which are few and far between).  The view is very green and lots of corn coming up or cattle milling about and munching down to fatten up.  Sure beats driving through cities!
