Animal watch day!

June 8 – It stopped raining just before we were ready to head out this morning.  Thank goodness.  Our plan was for Bill to lead the way to a gas station just up the road and I’d follow and then we’d hook up after getting fuel.  Well, we were only ¾ mile from there but Bill pulled off the road into a car repair kinda shop.  Luckily there was room along the front by the highway for me to pull in and see what was going on.  One of the truck tires was low and the guy aired it up, then Bill asked if he could take the tire off and check it out, which he did and darn if they didn’t find a screw in it.  So the guy put a plug in and put it back on – all for $25!

So we filled up the tank, hooked up the truck and jumped right on the highway.  It was a really nice day out with no rain to drive thru and beautiful countryside.  The terrain switched a couple of times from rolling farmlands to canyons and hills and back to rolling farmlands.

I saw 4 buffalo in captivity, 9 antelope or deer, a fox and a lot of prairie dogs.  So for me it was a good day!

On our lunch stop there was a beautiful overlook and we had a converted school bus pull in.  There were 2 young guys, maybe in their 20’s.  The bus was painted off white and had a rack on the back with a motorcycle and gizmo for kinda like a parachute.  We think they are headed to someplace having an event to just it.

Our final destination for toady was Harden, MT.  The campground was right off the main road thru town and it’s a pretty nice place.  We didn’t get a pull thru but I did manage to back it in without hitting anything!  If I do, it’s really Bill’s fault for bad directions!

We cleaned out the leftovers for dinner and what was left made way to the trash can.  Then we went out for our campground walk.  Chatted with a few folks along the way.  Got to get a close up look at a tent that is mounting on a Jeep.  We’d see one before but got to ask this guy questions about it.  He is older and does off road camping.  He’s on his way back to Indiana from seeing his sister out west.

We had a nice shower once we got back to the RV but it didn’t last very long.  We’re here for 2 nights so will explore the town a bit tomorrow and who knows what else!
