June 15 - A short driving day to Parish, NY to Bass Lake
Resort. We left Batavia just after 9 and got back on the toll
road for another $19. At least there
wasn’t much traffic this morning and only 2 slow downs due to road
construction. Only 132 miles. I had to use the bathroom really bad when we
got off at our exit and knew there was a Sunoco. Luckily it was a truck parking area and
barely anyone there. I did my business
and then we went ahead and unhooked the truck since it was only 3-4 miles to
the campground. We topped off the RV
tank as well.
Check in time was 1pm but I
called and asked if we could come in early and she checked our spot and it was
open. We have 3 free nights here from
attending a “sales pitch” back in the fall.
We could have stayed 7 but most things are not open so the 3 nights we
booked are fine. Apparently the
“freebies” don’t get a prime site. We
have 50 amp and water but no sewer. We
will be fine for 3 nights.
Once we got set up we had some
lunch and Bill washed the RV front. I
had some calls to make and we set up our first campsite in Vermont .
Because we are traveling Vermont has some counties you can go to, I
gather, if you’ve been on the road and some you can’t unless you have been
traveling a week or more and get tested.
So I had to set up for us to be tested after our first 2 nights in
VT. I think we will try to finish our
list of places in southern Vermont and then
some places in Massachusetts and get to Connecticut a few days
early. NH and Maine have pretty much the same rules.
We took a drive into Parish,
which is pretty small, and then kept going over to Mexico . It’s a much larger town, it even has a
McDonalds! The high school there is
gorgeous, very stately. Just checked it
out and came back and I made a bag dinner.
Bill was hoping for a restaurant but I only saw 3 open and they were all
pizza places. NADA!
My favorite cow!! |
On the way back I spotted 3
Belted Galloway cows along my side of the road.
Bill knows that is my favorite cow and one was pretty close so he turned
around and took me back to get a picture.
She posed for me then turned around and went to join her buddies.
We had our dinner and I got back
on the computer trying to get my itinerary updated. Kam called to check on us
old folks.
It’s a lot cooler here for
sure! No need for AC during the
nights.
Time for some TV!
Glad to hear that all is going well, safe travels to Conn. Oh yah, got a care package today, YAHOOOO.
