June
8 – After breakfast we went over to play games.
They do a lot of games here, most of which we have never heard of, but
Bill had signed us up to play 5 hole Bean Bag and Bucket Spin-it. It was so unorganized and the fact that you
signed up appeared to be irrelevant. I
told Bill I was going back to the RV. He
stayed and played 5 Hole Bean bag but did not win. Again, they don’t play but one time but they
do more “innings” and the winner is whoever ends up with the highest
score. No brackets and you can’t pick
your teammate if 2 players are needed.
Great view from here! |
Bill wanted me to get on the roof and clean the front cap of
the RV. It was not hot out so a good day
to do it if I had to. I took a huge
towel, squirt bottle of cleaner and a special rag. With no one to hold my feet, I couldn’t get
quite far enough to do it all but Bill seemed pleased that it looked a lot
better. He cleaned the window and front
so we look better than we did.
We
went back over for the afternoon games.
We both wanted to play Washer Toss and again you get picked by a number
and they have separate Ladies and Mens games.
They do Singles and
Doubles. I
only played Single Ladies and didn’t win by the point count. Bill played Singles and Doubles. He didn’t win in Singles but he and his
partner, Chip Schulz, won the Double Men’s and we were both surprised. One of his opponents won the Men
Singles. Do you think it helped that I was
the scorekeeper???
Proud winners, Chip and Bill |
I
made my chocolate ganache for tomorrow night’s dinner with Bruce and
Sharon. We’re meeting up just for one
night and then we head on and I think they are a couple more nights. She invited us to dinner and so I said I’d
bring dessert. Bruce loves brownies, so
I think chocolate rates high on his list.
This is a chocolate lovers dream!
Bill
bought a dinner ticket for a sloppy joe meal, nasty – and I had meatloaf with
finger
veggies. I think I had a better,
healthier meal. He said it was OK, just
not enough meat. Once I finished we
headed over for the closing ceremony.
The entertainment was Greg Claassen, a Ventriloquist. He was great!
I think our Florida Rally folks would love him and his assistants. He included folks in the audience and it was
so funny. Then it was time for the final
door prizes and chapter drawings. We
didn’t win any that we bought tickets for and didn’t expect to win another door
prize and were SHOCKED that we won 2 more door prizes. One is a small Coleman cooler that will most
likely end up in my van for hot days
that I’m out shopping and a string of lights
with little retro travel trailers. We
had to come a long way to win something!!!

Lucky ducks for a change |
I
did manage to get a load of laundry done as it was backing up. We waited to see if we had enough water and
tank space once I did the dishes. Will
plan to do one or 2 more when we get to Elm Creek tomorrow.
As I type this it is storming really bad. We brought the slides in as we were swaying in the wind and it really makes me nervous. If it continues Bill will sleep in the bed and I’ll take the couch. This is tornado land so I guess we have reason to be nervous. I don’t think we’ll sleep so well until it
blows over (not the RV)!!!
the lights are fun!
