July
9 – It was not a good sleeping night for either of us. The rain was over when we got up but it was
still a bit windy and only 54 out. The
skies were gray and we didn’t think it was going to be a very nice day
out. By the time we had breakfast and
hooked the truck up, the line was getting long at the dump station so we opted
to head on out and dump when we stop.
We
left around 10 and headed to I-80 where we went west to Elm Creek. It was windy and the RV was a struggle to
keep in the lane. My shoulder was tired
out and we’d only driven about 65 miles. Our exit had a Pilot station so we opted to
fuel up today so we could head right out in the morning.
We
arrived at Sunny Meadows campground around lunch time. We were just about done setting up when Bruce
and Sharon arrived. The campground is
nothing special, but it’s close to the interstate, long enough sites, fairly
level and half price with Passport America .
Bruce
and Sharon will be here 3 nights but we’re heading out in the morning. Once they got set up they came over for a
visit and that’s always fun. Bruce
showed us photos from the art center they went to in Omaha area.
Nice work by many talented people.
We
had dinner over at Sharon
and Bruce’s and she made a casserole version of galumpkis. It was very good and we all had seconds. She even sent us home with some leftovers for
tomorrow. We had 3 choices of wine, so it was a nice dinner! Once the meal settled we had my Ganache Tart
with homemade whipped cream. Lots of
conversation, lots of laughs until it was time to say good night and head home.
It
was still warm out so Bruce and Sharon
sat out for a while and we talked through the window. It’s supposed to get pretty nippy tonight so
we might have to turn some heat on!
