Games
started at 9. We both played Bocce, but
boy is it different. You don’t make a
team, you draw a number out of a bucket and all the 1’s make a team, the 2’s
and so on. I was on Team 4 and Bill was
on Team 6. The court is grass just laid
out with rope. There are no “officials”
for each court and one team member keeps the score. The rules are even more wacky!
Anyway, my team was 4 women, playing 4 men. They were ahead for a while but we came back,
tied, then went ahead, then tied in the end.
The winner is determined by someone throws the jack ball, and each team
member throws one ball and the closest ball to the jack determines the winner. We tied 34-34 and lost on the “throw off”. Bummer!
The over all winning team is the team that scored the most points, so
there are no brackets like we are used to.
You do get to play longer, so you get more adapted to the course but
it’s just different! Bill’s team lost
but he said once he adjusted to the hillside and tree root, he did pretty good!
I forgot to show this photo when we took it. It looks like a sheep herder wagon and it was a volunteer at Greer's Ferry Lake in Arkansas. |
The
next game was ladder ball and neither of us had ever played it so we came
inside for a bit. Later we had to go
back to get yesterday’s paperwork witnessed and then dropped it all off at the
post office! One thing off the
list! We drove around a bit and then
stopped at the grocery for a short list.
Bill wanted to wash the truck as he parked under a tree with a shedding
problem in addition to bird poo! He
ended up dropping me off while he went for the wash.
While
he was gone I got to thinking about lunch and what I could get rid of in the
fridge. I had a small amount of leftover
spaghetti sauce with some Italian sausage in it. So I took some street taco size flour
tortillas and spread with the sauce, put a bit more Italian seasoning on,
sliced the meatballs and put in place and covered with shredded mozzarella and
baked at 450 for 10 minutes and lunch was ready! Bill is a pizza person, me – not so much, so
he enjoyed it but would have chosen pepperoni had he had the choice!
Our
first mail of the summer arrived today!
The shocker was in one our local newpapers Kam sent, there was a photo
we took last summer of us going on the ferry across Lake
Michigan . We sent that in
to the paper in August, and it’s just now getting in. Better Late than Never I guess! We will enjoy
the reindeer summer sausage Kam sent from her and Dan’s trip to Scandinavia in May!
Yum!
Bill
did a little window washing on the RV this afternoon and he made reservations for
us for dinner at The Odessey in town.
It’s the highest rated on Yelp in Hastings
and it’s a bit upscale and dinner was delicious. The dining room was booked so
we were in the bar area. Service was
excellent. Bill had a pasta dinner with
chicken and I had what was a version of Osso Bucco. It was 2 knuckles and
shorter, served over cheese grits with a side of shredded sautéed Brussels
sprouts. I licked my platter clean (and
washed it down with a nice Dornfelder).
We had to pass on dessert!
It
was too late to make the evening entertainment at the rally so we went home and
read and relaxed.
