July 3 – Beautiful morning
out today! Supposed to get hot and it
did! Once breakfast was out of the way
we stopped by the office to drop off a receipt and the box and papers from the
walkie talkies we’d been issued.
Ugh! Ended up chatting with the
owners and workers longer than planned so finally got on the road!
Today we started at the
computer place and he took less tan 10 minutes to fix my issue at NO
charge! Then Bill dropped me at Bed, Bath and Beyond while he
took the truck to the car wash. I needed
my favorite coffee, coconut mocha, and I had a rug I got out west last summer
that the edges frayed when washed and the store in Winter Garden gave me a hard
time about it, since I had already returned one of the 2 I bought for the same
issue. They wanted me to pay the
shipping and I wasn’t having it! So this
store never questioned it, just ordered a new one to be sent and that was that!
Muskegon South Pier Lighthouse |
There are 2 lighthouses in Muskegon so we headed to the Visitor Center
which is near the marina area and checked out the exhibit, chatted with the
lady there, picked up a slew of brochures and got directions to the
lighthouses. One is in my book so I got
my stamp for it, Muskegon South Pier lighthouse, built in 1903. It’s red, I love the red ones or striped ones
the best! Of course only on certain days
and times can you go on a tour and up to the top and today was not the
day. We stopped first at the ferry
terminal since in August we’re taking it from here to Milwaukee for a few days. Then a few winding miles further along the
coast of Lake Michigan we found the
beach and
lighthouse. There was quite a crowd on
the beach. Looks like Daytona with no
waves! It’s a decent walk from the parking
to the lighthouse and by the time I got back I was hot. It was 90 today and no breeze, I thought I
was back in Florida !
Breakwater Lighthouse |
Lunch time!!! We hadn’t had Mexican in a while and I had
spotted a couple of places on the drive.
We picked El Tapatio which had a decent numbers of cars out front. It was good!
I had Queso Fundido and a side tamale.
Well, it was good but not served like our favorite place in Winter
Garden. I also should have taken a pill
before eating due to my hernia. Not fun!
On the pier |
No more stops on the way
home. Bill lit out right away to check
on what the guys were doing with an RV down in our row and later came back to
let some one use our RV level. Later I
didn’t see him outside or his chair and found him across the lane in his chair
along the lake in the shade. He had a
book of course and had a beverage but was just enjoying the lake. I was slaving away on the computer catching
up on my blog posts! We start officially
working tomorrow so there won’t be much to talk about!
I did put a load of laundry
in but won’t have to really cook tonight since we still have meatloaf. I’m thinking we will grill tomorrow night but
if not I’ll come up with something! Will
make a strawberry jello pie tonight and will take some to Jean and Shawn and
Kim and Paul. I keep wanting to say,
Jean and Paul, as we have good friends by those names!
Will try to post a couple
more days this evening and start writing some lighthouse stamp request letters
so I can get my book filled!
