September 28 – The plan for today was to have lunch with Jeff and Kim as I had made plans to meet a friend I worked with at Orange Bank for years for dinner. She lives in Collins, GA so we were meeting at the only town between us, Reidsville.
Jeff smoked chickens for lunch and I didn't want to feel like a slacker so I took a raspberry jello pie and pasta salad. Kim made cornbread and green beans so we had a really good meal. Since Bill was on his own for dinner Kim sent him home with plenty of chicken and I had some pasta salad left for him.
After lunch we sat in one of the 2 TV rooms and just visited a while before we needed to leave. I just went in the RV for a minute for my directions and off I went to Reidsville. It wasn't a bad drive in the daylight but the trip home on those back country roads was a little nerving!
Linda was in a silver Chevy
I can't say how good it was to
see Linda after probably 10 years. She looks the same as ever with her
brilliant smile and wonderful sense of humor. We caught up on each other's
families and about her new husband and then spent our time talking about the
old days at Orange Bank and who we each still kept up with and wondered what
happened to others. I wish I had done a better job of keeping in touch with her
but now I have her email and phone number and she's planning to come to
The drive home was OK as I didn't see a single deer, which was a major concern, until I literally got back into the park! There was a female along the driveway and she just watched me go by! It really was a great day and wonderful visit with my old friend!
