September 4 – We were soooo happy
that there was a schedule change for the holiday weekend and we ended up
getting our 5th day off as normal!
Yea!!
Pam and Smokey asked if we’d like
to meet them at Traveler’s Rest for lunch.
That was a no brainer! Lobster
Roll here we come! We arrived at the
same time and sat outside and enjoyed the camaraderie as well as our
lunches. Pam and I had the lobster and
the guys, being guys, had burgers and bacon!
Ugh! We took our time and laughed
and had a nice time, then I went inside with Pam and found 2 books (you can
have 3 per person for free) but I didn’t go to the BIG book area downstairs
where you can purchase from a much wider selection. The freebies are almost all former hardcover
library books! I think Pam and Smokey
went down as we headed out for the rest of our errands.
Bill's truck with Frog Rock |
We stopped at the post office and
were happy to see the last thing we expected was there so no more trips to the PO . Then we
stopped at “Frog Rock”. We’ve passed it
numerous times but the days we wanted to stop they were closed. They have a large picnic area and a food
stand that also sells soft serve. It was
too early for that but we didn’t want to forget to stop today as we didn’t
think we would be going
that way again before we leave. It’s name is from the huge boulder that is
kinda shaped like a frog and is painted to look like one.
Frog Rock from a different angle |
We have also passed a place
all the time that has huge pine and other woods planks on display and I decided
I wanted one if they were the right size to make a bench with a back. We stopped and no one was around or answered
the house door. We looked at what was on
top and I found one that I liked the width as some were way too wide for my
project. Once I decided here came a
tractor with a load of split wood that we noticed you could stop and buy and
put your money in a slot. He’s the owner and was so nice. He and Bill wanted me to go with a patina
aged piece but I don’t want it look that old I want to varnish it to stay like
it is. So the guy used his chain saw to
cut it in half and it fit fine in the back of the truck. It was about 11 feet long. I know; like I really need another project!!
Once my wood was loaded and we put
the other stuff back on top of it we headed on in to the grocery store. Bill got his cart of Snapple and I did the
rest. The people here are no smarter
than in Florida
in following the directions of the arrows!
Geez!
I wanted Bill to grill out, but
he begged off, so I got George down and did some hot links for him and Italian
sausage for me. We had fresh corn on the
cob and finished off the broccoli salad.
Right now cookies are the mainstay for dessert!
