7 – I’ve been having some unusual light flashes in my left eye, which was my
good eye so I asked off today to go into Rexburg to the Ophthalmologist. In addition to the flashes, my eye was just
hurting like something was in it.
Bill
drove me in and we only had a short wait at the pass this morning! He dropped me at the doctor while he went to
the used book store we’ve been trying to catch open. After that he took the truck to the car
wash. The doctor was in surgery so even
after I did my paperwork I had a bit of a wait.
A technician saw me first and did a series of tests and eye drops. Then I waited more for the doctor. He gave me a thorough once over and said the
vitreous of the eye was starting to liquify and where it’s attached to the
retina still, it tugs it when I turn my head.
That causes a thinning in the tissue and allows light in causing the
flashes. Eventually it all dissolves as
you age and the flashes stop unless you get a tear. He also said I have a small cataract starting
that I probably won’t have issue with for several years. The pain is dry eye! It hurt all day even after more and more
drops. I have to go back the end of the
month.
Bill
took me to Blisters for lunch. It’s a
popular BBQ place in a convenience store.
We learned about it in 2015 and go at least once when we’re in Rexburg. That brisket was good.
We
did a quickie stop at Wal-mart and then back to Island Park
after a short stop at Dave’s Jubilee!
The traffic at the pass was the most backed up we have ever seen, so we
took “literally” the scenic route around Mesa Falls . I’m not sure how much time we saved but at
least we didn’t sit in the hot truck for an hour.
My
eye was still hurting so I stayed in and Bill went to work until 7. We had some of the rotisserie chicken I
bought yesterday thinking we’d have it last night! It worked out well!
Wow, always seems to be something. We hope that the Doc has a fix for you.
