5 – What a day! Back on the road
again! I was up at 7 and Bill at 7:30
and since everything was pretty much done last night I had high hopes we’d be
on the road at 8:30. Well, the best laid
plans…
We
had breakfast and closed up the RV, raised the legs (with no issues) but then
we kinda got bogged down with our good-byes!
Most of the gang was out and ready but the owners took a while and they
wanted their son to say good-bye and she drove back to get him and by the time
all was said and done it was 9:45! They
really want us to come back next year but that is not in the plan. They love us as we’re hard workers and very
trustworthy.
Once
we got on the road we stopped at Dave’s Jubilee Market for some homemade
sausage, a few veggies and 2 ice cream sandwiches for lunch dessert. From there it was a long drive until we
stopped at Flying J in McCammon ,
ID where we fueled up the RV and
ourselves. Although it was warming up
and nice out, there was smoke all the way today. There was some nice scenery along I-15 that was
photo worthy, however, you couldn’t see the mountains for the smoke. We drove through some verdant valleys and
past a wild animal preserve where we caught a glance of grizzly bears and a
buck moose. Next door was a llama
farm. Of course since we were behind
schedule we didn’t have time for stops anyway!
The
plan was to stay at Wal-Mart in Springville ,
UT. We had been told that when we got to the
airport exit for Salt
Lake to take it and
bypass the back up downtown traffic. I’m
thinking we ended up not much better off as we were dead stopped several
times. It was a miserable drive as I
would be in the right lane and suddenly I was in the 3rd of 7 lanes,
and in a few miles I was back in the right lane and I NEVER changed lanes. It was crazy!
That went on for miles and miles.
I was so happy to see our exit and shortly after, parked between two
semi’s in the Wal-mart lot.
Bill
had called in 2 script renewals so we went in and while he picked those up I
worked on our short list!
I
made pepperoni pizzas for dinner with salads and we finished off the leftover
orange cream jello pie from the gathering yesterday. Simple but tasty!
The
temp has changed considerably also and the dash AC just didn’t cut it! I couldn’t wait for my shower and we
immediately turned on the AC. Thought
I’d better at least write my journal tonight and hope our campground in Cedar City
has wifi for the next 2 days.
