London Bridge...no not that one!

September 13 – Up earlier than normal and were on the road at 9:15.  The first stop of the day was Lake Havasu City, home of the London Bridge!  We had to park about ¼ mile from the Visitor Center and the bridge and it so hot out.  We turned on the generator to run the AC for Molly, then we trudged across 2 parking lots, down a road to the dock at the

Colorado River and there we saw the London Bridge.  The bridge is from London and in 1971 it was dissembled and labeled block by block and brought to Lake Havasu City where it was reassembled block by block.  Bill was disappointed it was kind of a blah bridge and he thought it would be more flamboyant and decorative.  We walked the 53 steps to the top of the bridge and then had to walk the
Aerial view
52 steps back down, so we got all of our exercise for the day in this one stop.

We made quick visit to a gift shop and the VC to see photos of the bridge before it was brought to the US and pick up some brochures for Arizona.  We caught a ride back up the hill on a courtesy cart and trudged back to the RV.

Back on the road moving on to Quartzite, AZ.  On the way there it was getting to be time for lunch so we pulled into a parking lot and had a quick lunch.  Bill went out to run the car for the prerequisite 5 minutes but came back in and said he had trouble getting the key out and it would not start.  He got out the rechargeable jumper and jumped it and let it run a bit before setting it up to tow.

Going for a stroll across the bridge
Quartzite is known for the world largest RV gathering of over a million people.  It’s a 2 month event and most of the RV’s dry camp in big fields.  They have entertainment, and huge flea markets and a gem and rock event.  Anyway, we saw a lot of the big fields where the people park along the road.

Final destination for the day was Yuma, AZ, home of the Yuma Territorial Prison back in the old west days.  We had planned to visit but found out it is closed for September for upkeep and continual restoration.  Oh well.

As we were pulling into the RV park and looking for the office I received a call from my mom’s facility that almost 2 hours prior they sent her to the hospital.  She was throwing up and had a fever.  I was very upset that she didn’t call immediately and then to find out they sent her to Health Central which we specifically listed in her file NOT to send her to.  I’ll be making a nasty call tomorrow.  I called my brother and texted Kerry who had just flown in from Utah.  She went straight to the hospital.  They did a scan of her abdomen and later she called that it came back negative so they’re keeping her for observation.  That’s good news but we’re not happy at their delaying of information from Inspired Living or that they didn’t follow our instructions!

Once we got parked, Bill hooked everything up and we again closed all the shades trying to keep the Ac in.  I couldn’t wait to get a shower after sweating my share today and after I warmed up my leftovers from Las Vegas and watched my TV show.  Then Bill showered and he had a Lean Cuisine and watched his 2 shows.

Time to read!
