Captains Log July 23 - 27 – OK, I’ve been a slacker!
There really hasn’t been much to tell, just the same old things. It’s been back to working and
picking berries. Bill has had a couple of doctor appointments and so he helped in the morning with what sites were empty and I did the rest. Of course, I sent a list with him of anything I wanted him to get on the way back each time.
I currently have I think, 14 pounds of blackberries in the freezer and I made my first batch ever of blackberry syrup. I didn’t make but about 12 ounces as it only keeps 2 weeks in fridge but can be frozen, so I put 2 tiny containers in the freezer but am pretty sure I will make another batch and try to work it into the freezer.
Blueberry Crumble Bars
I’ve made Blueberry Crumble Bars, which are very
tasty and muffins and pancakes! My
fingernails are disgusting from picking and cleaning the berries. I try disposable gloves but they tear right
away.
For something to do we stocked the brochures at each loop and while Bill was gone one day I went to the Group Area and picked up quite a bit of trash in the parking area and site area.
Bill gave me a big Rubbermaid tub with a lid and a
bunch of his rag towels and I wrapped up my giant pine cones to take home. I promised his brother
