Lunch out and sightseeing!

August 25 – Another day of not really doing much!  We did go to Pomfret to The Vanilla
Great lunch!
Bean and used the balance of our gift card and had a nice lunch.  I went with a lighter lunch of Quiche and a salad with fruit garnish.  I did share a few pieces of my fruit with Bill, who had a regular hamburger.  The service was a little slow but we hit the peak lunch time.

We had stopped at the post office on the way so took a different route home.  We planned to stop at Frog Rock but it was closed, so we stopped at a family veggie booth where I got some delicious tomatoes, both large and grape size.  We didn’t need peppers or squash so will see what they have next time.

We took a little drive in Eastford that Bill had explored on his own
one day.  We went to the birthplace of Nathaniel Lyon, the first Union general killed in the Civil War.  All that is left of the house is the chimney, but it’s a pretty unique chimney.  It has fireplaces on 3 sides.  The main cooking side has 2 small “ovens” along the side of the fireplace.  The property has some of the original stone fences as well.  This area has lots of stone walls about 2 feet tall, they are even all through the woods here.

Molly and I sat out for quite a while.  It was very nice along
The kitchen side
the
shady side of the RV.  It was a rather relaxing day but no sight seeing!

We grilled our steak tonight since we ate ice cream last night!   Yum!
