First day on the job!

July 2 – First day on the job!  We were scheduled from 10 – 3.  We had on our new "CREW" t-shirts with our name tags on and off we went!

We had a pile of check ins ready for the day, 40.  Yikes!  Well, Pam went over a few things with me and her granddaughter, Maya, came in with her dad and she worked in the office as well.  I really didn’t do a lot but answer the phone and help price new merchandise for the store.  Maya will be a senior this fall and is a sharp and very personable young lady.  There is a walk up window from the porch so we didn’t have any contact with arrivals on my shift.  They started trickling in at 11 and the most at one time while I was on duty was 3 but it was very steady.

Bill mostly mowed grass today but also cleaned the bathhouse.  There’s a lot of grass here and with all the rain and sunshine it grows – a lot!  I think he is scheduled for 2 hours each of the next 3 days to man the water slide that is being brought in for the holiday weekend.  I’ll be selling ice cream and junk food!!

We didn’t get to have lunch til 3 so we opted for a light lunch since I made chicken pasta salad for dinner.  I added some fresh tomatoes and veggies to it and served it over a plate of lettuce.  Sneaky way to get Bill to eat salad.  He REALLY liked the dinner tonight!  Last night after dinner I was bored so I made a simple Pan Cake that I brought a recipe from home to try.  It was VERY chocolaty with a 2 ingredient chocolate icing.  Once it all cooled and I iced it, I ate a 1 inch corner out.  Wasn’t overly impressed but when we had it tonight and it sat a while it was much tastier.  I had cut pieces for Pam and Steve and forgot to take them this morning so hope to remember tomorrow.
