August 16 – We have 9 more
work days counting today. 3 weeks of
3. We did our first round at 8 to about
9:30. The sun came out and it was
getting pretty warm. Not a lot of
campers coming and going so Bill did some raking and mowing and I did some
raking. The problem was between the heat
and raking motion I got motion sickness.
My face was beat red, probably because I lost at least one layer of
skin, and Bill insisted I go home for a while.
I laid down and started to feel better but my face was still pretty much
on fire.
We filled a garbage can,
packed and heavy with leaves and needles from about 6-7 sites. I continued throughout the day to help him
with bathhouse and Cadillac duty but the raking was a no-no. I think most of my head is still out of whack
and so sensitive. We’re going on the
ferry to Milwaukee
on Sunday and I sure hope the travel patch does the job!
A few new campers arrived
but nothing like Thursdays have been. We
cleaned a couple of cabins this morning and they’ve changed the routine, which
is 100 times better. No more blowing the
sand out, they went with an actual washable mattress cover making the process
much easier.
We finally cleared out the
last steak and chicken and some roasted potatoes for dinner. Can’t believe I didn’t have a fresh green
veggie on hand so resorted to my emergency Greet Giant in light sauce.
It turned into a beautiful
day and those that were here thoroughly enjoyed the lake and the beach
area. We did our last bathroom check at
10 and all was well with the world. We
finally got into our fresh blueberries.
I bought 4 dessert cups and used 2 with blueberry flavored “glace”, the
berries and cool whip. Pretty darn
tasty! The rains started and no more
sitting out for most people.
