Captains Log September 18 – The drive to Trailer Village at the South Rim of the Grand Canyon was 140 miles. We stopped on the way and filled up the RV with fuel at Cameron and we stopped along the road before the park at a Native shop. I bought a gift and Melissa found a bracelet she liked.
The road wasn't so bad until we actually got into the park. The road was curvy and 25MPH so it took a bit to get to the other side to the village where the campgrounds are. We had no problems checking in but our site was a bit less than flat and level. Bill had to put boards under the tires and then we were not comfortable putting the legs down on the gravel.
We got settled in and it was pretty brisk out, not what we've been used to for the last couple of weeks.
Melissa and I went for a walk about the campground and the other side from us was nicer and had a lot of big rigs. Our side has 3 rows in the back with identical Coleman RV's that appear to be winterized and all have big propane tanks. Not sure if they are rentals for guests or housing for staff. We did see an apartment housing area behind the campground and there is a bus stop at the edge of our campgrounds so there must be children living there.
The sightseeing begins tomorrow!
