Finally finding the lighthouses....

June 9 – It was raining when we got up but thankfully by the time we were ready to load up the bikes and unhook the utilities it stopped.  The bad part was a new RV pulled in the space 2 from us and he was towing a huge trailer behind his motorhome.  Well, he hung out of the front and the back of the space and to leave we had to go left in front of his RV to the end of the row and back down behind him and it was NOT going to happen.  The employee who assigned him the space came in a golf cart and realized we had an issue.  The guy said he’d back up for us to go in front and pull forward for us to go in back but she told him there would be other people coming and going.  We really didn’t care as long as we got out.  So he did what he said and we hooked the truck up in front of the check in building and were on our way.

One last time over the bridge to the good old USA!  Of course it was raining most of the day but either stopped or slowed to a drizzle when it was time to stop – a bit of luck for a change!  We got stopped at customs and the guy was a bit terse and ran our registration and tags.  Then he came inside the RV and saw Molly.  Never asked to see the $40 certificate of health that we had to get to bring her!  Bill did his usual chatting him up and he left smiling and much nicer than when we stopped.

Relocated Peche Lighthouse
First stop was our first lighthouse, Peche Lighthouse, in Marine City built in 1908.  It was moved from its original location to a small city park.  The stamp was at the “Sweet Tooth” shop across the street.  We had lunch down a couple of blocks at Gars.  Very good!  Service was a little slow as they only had one waitress.  Bill had; guess what?  You guessed it, a hamburger with fries and a soda.  I had an Antipasto salad that was big and loaded with meat, cheese, olives, --- the works.  I only ate half and took the rest with me.

Fort Gratiot Lighthouse
We headed further north to Port Huron where I got my stamp for the Fort Gratiot Lighthouse which was built in 1825.  Since we were not sure about driving the RV towing the truck into the small towns and if there would be feasible parking, we left the RV off the highway at a Meijers (like a Wal-mart).  We headed back and it was still rainy.  We decided to just have Bill follow in the truck rather than hook up in the rain and unhook again in the rain.

Bill enjoying Lake Huron
We had a reservation at Forester Park on Lake Huron in Carsonville.  Luckily we had a pull through spot and the place was pretty near full.  We were beside a family and friends group of 5-6 RV’s.  Bill chatted with several of the guys and 2 other guys with their dogs.  It’s a really nice family place.  Once the rain stopped we walked over to the lake so Bill could get his feet wet AND cold!

I made dinner and posted a couple of days.  I’m having trouble keeping up as we are on the go all day!
