Crappy, crappy, crappy, better, good, GREAT!

June 8 – It was mostly a crappy day!  Once we had breakfast and Bill was doing the outside jobs, the poop hose came loose and he had a stinky mess out there.  I could smell it inside and I was thankful it wasn’t my job to deal with!  See why I said “crappy”?

Downtown Windsor
The incident caused us to leave late for our drive to Windsor.  Second crappy thing!  Traffic was not as bad as when we were driving from Windsor and our campground was nice.  The spaces were short for big rigs and only had 30 AMP.  We were fine for the night.  We had lunch and rested a while before showering and heading into the US.

Bill wanted to go through the tunnel instead of the bridge so
Tunnel back up
he asked the lady at check in how to do that and either he wrote it down wrong or she told him wrong but after a few miles in what we decided was the wrong direction, (crappy) I checked a map and we eventually got to the tunnel entrance.  We got backed up in the tunnel and came to a dead stop. (crappy)  I was not excited over this.  Finally we started moving and had our turn at the border crossing.  Bill got into a conversation with the young man and found he went to University HS and played baseball for Bill’s friend Rodney.  It’s a small world!

In the big boy chair
Due to road closures we had a lot of issues getting where we thought we wanted to be.  We were trying to get to the island of Grosse Ile in search of 2 lighthouses.  We got there and the historical society was closed and had no information posted on the light houses.(more crappy)  We Googled and drove to where he thought one should be (the other was too far out in the water to see from the island), but no lighthouse.  Bill was getting antsy as he didn’t want to be stuck in a lot of traffic getting to the baseball game, so we gave it up and left the island.  (where we had to pay both ways to use the bridge)

Nice ride....
Ambassador bridge at
night
Traffic was bad and a bit on the frantic side heading back into downtown.  Luckily we had purchased parking when we ordered our tickets to see the Indians play the Tigers. (not crappy) We zipped right in to the lot which was only a block from Comerica Field.  For a Friday night game there were not nearly as many fans as we expected.  We had good seats on the 3rd base side, lower level.  We had time before the game to check out some fun things at the stadium, like a ride on the Tiger Carousel!  We got our dinner and ate it at a nice courtyard area instead of in our seats.  The game was great, well it’s always great when your team wins.  Leaving the stadium was quick and painless and we crossed back into Canada via the Ambassador Bridge.  The ride home was eventless, so I guess our day wasn’t so crappy after all!
